Athens - Theron L. (T) Devereaux, 74, died December 14, 2005.
Born in Wayne County, GA, he was the son of the late Quitman C. and Zora B. Ford Devereaux. Mr. Devereaux was a 1949 graduate of Jesup High School, where he remained active with class reunions and class functions. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Forestry and was a retired forester with the Georgia Forestry Commission. Mr. Devereaux was currently owner and operator of C & T 's Christmas Tree Farm. His hobby was geneology and he was a member of the Clarke-Oconee Genealogical Society. Mr. Devereaux was a member of St. Josephís Catholic Church and a volunteer with St. Josephís Charities.
Funeral mass will be Friday, December 16, 2005 at 11:00 AM at St. Josephís Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be J.L. Stanford, Jimmy Vaughn, Jake Fields, Jimmy Barrett, Tommy Hewell and Joe Cunningham.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Chris Devereaux; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Leigh Devereaux of Byron, GA, Jon and Alecia Devereaux of Jacksonville, FL, Dan Devereaux of Athens; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Fields of Hull and Lynn D. and Dan Wilkie of Yorktown, VA; sister, Jewel D. Higginbotham of Brunswick, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Gleaton, Morgan Devereaux, Landon Devereaux, Joshua Fields, Lori Fields, Jake Fields, Lauren Wilkie, Benjamin Wilkie and Preston Wilkie; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410 Atlanta, GA, 30384, in memory of Theron Devereaux.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
