Ila - Thearon F. (Chan) Chandler, 91, died October 28, 2007.
A native of Madison County, Ga., he was a son of the late Hoyt and Minnie Fitzpatrick Chandler, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnifred Slay Chandler and a great grandson, Andrew "A.J." Cooper.
Mr. Chandler was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the original Seabees, South Pacific Campaign. In 1952, he graduated from the University of Tennessee with Doctoral of Law Degree. He was a member of Knoxville Civil Air Patrol, and the John H. Jones F. & AM Lodge 348, Danielsville, Ga.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at 2:30 PM at Ila Baptist Church with Revs. Albert Vaughn, Mark Fite, and Tim Peek officiating. Interment will be in Cleghorne Cemetery, Ila, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Bennett Chandler; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Joe Cooper of Bryant, AL; grandson and wife, John and Kim Cooper; great granddaughter and husband, Bethany and Steven Smith; great grandson, David Cooper; great granddaughter, Amanda Cooper; great-great grandson, Jason Smith; stepson and wife, Eddie and Melodi Bennett of Athens; grandchildren, Hannah and Josh Cape; great grandchild, Madison Cape; stepdaughter and husband, Jan and Tim Epps of Ila; grandson and wife, Doug and Kim Epps; great grandchildren, Matthew, Cody, and Nathan Epps; grandson, Shane Epps of Ila; granddaughter and husband, Valerie and Jason Bumstead of Ila; great granddaughter, Mackenzie Bumstead; stepson and wife, John and Paula Bennett; grandchildren, Angelia Bennett, Anna Day, Edward Day and Jonathan Day.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
