Theodore Thomas Gore, 68, of Athens, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Thomas Gore, Sr., and Marion Patterson Gore, as well as a brother, Phillip Gore.
Ted is survived by his former spouse, Carol Gore; his three children: Cameo (David Mucha) Gore, Ted (Whitney) Gore, and Tyler Gore; two grandchildren, Isabella Mucha and Carson Mucha; and four siblings: Janet Olson, Peter Gore, Loren Gore Grimes, and Guy Gore.
Ted grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His grandfather, Robert Hayes Gore, served as governor of Puerto Rico. His family owned the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, beginning his love of the newspaper business, and his longtime employment at the Athens Banner-Herald. Ted loved woodworking, photography, fishing, and hunting, had an incredible sense of humor and his laughter and smile would light up a room. Those that knew him truly loved him.
Throughout his life he suffered greatly and fought bravely to free himself from the grips of alcoholism. His journey is a living testament to never give up on those you love, no matter what. May it also inspire those who suffer to keep fighting. Life can be fleeting. Only the memories we create and the love we share is what matters in the end.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 25, at 2:00 p.m. at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel. A reception is to follow at the Rialto Room at Hotel Indigo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Alcoholics Anonymous of Athens, GA, online at www.24thstreetathens.com.
