Thelma Mae Hope Compton, 85, died September 11, 2006.
A native of Liberty County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Sylvester and Ella Davis Hope, and the widow of James David Compton. She was also preceded in death by two children, James Compton and Linda Rowland. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 14, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James F. Creason officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include seven children, Carolyn (Charles) Adams of Athens, Edith (Kenneth) Munday of Kannapolis, NC, Emmett (Debbie) Compton of Hull, Patricia Horne, Kathy (Wilmer) Wynn, Al (Ellen) Compton, and Kelvin (Wanda) Compton, all of Comer; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cody Threlkeld, Mark Threlkeld, Glenn Wood, Don Williamson, Mike Lunsford and Johnny Johnson.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, Hwy 172, Comer, GA 30629.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
