Athens - Thad H. Ward, 87, husband of the late Florine McGuire Ward, died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Melvin Richard and Annie Spence Ward. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Thad was the owner and operator of Thadís Amoco Station. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother and sisters; Alma Daniel, Sara Brewer, Reba Daniel, Tinnie Mae Lee, Martha Ward, Catherine Hardman, Robert Ward, Maude Harris, Lee Ann Junod.
He is survived by his sons; Tony Ward of Castleberry, FL, Robert (Brenda) Ward of Watkinsville, daughter, Roseanne (Art) DelSignore of Columbus, grandchildren, Eric S. Wilson, Rhonda (Brad) Nasiatka, Brandon Ward, Kellie Prince, Kevin (Maggie) Ward, Julianne (John) Butler and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 1PM at Athens Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:30 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Briar Patch Playground Fund, c/o Watkinsville First Christian Church, P.O. Box 287, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
