Ted Carroll Wilkes, 77, husband of 57 years to Marilyn Sosebee Wilkes, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Born in Gainesville, GA, Ted was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Wilkes and Ethel Annie Wilkes, father to the late Amy Leigh Nation and Matthew Taylor Wilkes and brother to the late Michael M. Wilkes and Harold E. Wilkes. Following graduation from Oconee County High School, Ted first attended Truett-McConnell Junior College in Cleveland, GA on a basketball scholarship, then transferred to the University of Georgia and was in the National Guard. He was accepted to the UGA School of Law, but before he could begin classes, he was activated by the National Guard. He worked for General Cinema Corporation Beverage Division in Georgia and Virginia, and Oklahoma Beverage in Bartlesville, OK before he became the owner agent of First Class Reality until his retirement. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Ted will always be remembered for his kind heart, giving nature and someone that never met a stranger. Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter: Amberlee Lynn Wyatt; siblings: William J. Wilkes and Brenda Elaine Patat and three grandchildren: Spencer Nation, Allyson Wyatt and Colton Wyatt. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11AM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Pastor Tracy Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the funeral home.
