T. Lamar Phillips, age 65, of Athens, husband of Jenifer D. Phillips, died at his residence on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.Born in Athens, Lamar was the son of the late Theatus Abe and Maggie Mae Carson Phillips, and brother of the late John Allen Phillips. He retired from Collins Trucking as a log truck driver. In addition to his wife, Lamar is survived by his children, Trenton Phillips, of Winder, and Tara Phillips, Jeremy (Tonya) Phillips, Angel Phillips, and Travis Phillips, all of Athens; sisters, Helen Gunter, of Watkinsville, and Rachael Teet, of Roanoke, Ala.; and grandchildren, Trenton Phillips II, Courtney Griffith, and Aaliyah Phillips. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, at the Lord & Stephens East Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice or the Northeast Georgia Cancer Center. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Mark Vrana and the staff of Gentiva Hospice.
