Sylvia Kay Martin passed away in her home on November 26, 2018 with her daughter Freda by her side.
Kay was born October 27, 1942 to Annie Maude and H.B. Bost in Danielsville, GA where she grew up, until her father's service in the Navy took her all over the world, including Naples, Italy (along with her sister Carol). She spent most of her teenage years in Italy, until returning to the States in 1962.
Kay proudly worked for the University of Georgia for almost 30 years until her retirement in 1995. In her retirement, she cared for her mother Annie and enjoyed doting on her nieces and nephews in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Recently returning to Athens, GA, she has had the joy of being a big part of her grandson's Timothy II's life, and her home has really always been BullDAWG country!
Kay is survived by her daughter Freda Denise Clarke (Timothy) and grandson Timothy Clarke, II, step-daughter Beth Willmitch of Athens, sister Carol McElroy (and husband Bernard) of Knoxville, TN, niece Kim Baker of Knoxville, TN (children Drew, Isaac and Grace), and niece Melanie Baker of Limerick, PA (children Zach, Baker and Joe).
The family will have a Celebration of Life at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home on Saturday, December 1, 11:00-12:00 and is asking all attendees to wear their favorite Bulldog game day attire!
Lord & Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
