Mary "Sybil" Bramblett (Mashburn) of Athens, GA, died June 6, 2011, at Morningside of Athens. Born Mary Sybil Mashburn in Wedowee, AL, on June 17, 1923, she was the daughter of Monk Mashburn, proprietor of Mashburn Furniture, and Jimmie Dobson.
Sybil married Willis "Frank" Bramblett in June of 1946. The couple lived in Cumming, GA, Wedowee, AL, Anniston, AL, and Marietta, GA, before settling in Athens, GA, in 1972, where Sybil became an enthusiastic Georgia Bulldogs fan (and season ticket-holder) and worked in the Physical Education Department at the University of Georgia.
Sybil was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where she and Frank were Iong-time active members of the Jolly Elders.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Addie Jo, and by her husband Frank, who died March 5, 2000. She is survived by her son, Willis "Frank" Bramblett, Jr., her daughter-in-law Karen, her grandson Reid, and her great-grandson Kemper.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 9, from 6 to 8pm at Lord & Stephens East funeral home at 4355 Lexington Rd., Athens, GA, 30605. The funeral will be held at 11am on Friday, June 10, at Lord & Stephens East. The interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens, 5195 Lexington Rd. Athens, GA.
