Athens - Sybil J. Arthur, 77, wife of the late William C. Arthur, died Monday, September 13, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Salem, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy W. Jackson and Harriett Sanders Jackson. She retired from the University of Georgia after 29 years as a budget annalist, was a member of Salem Baptist Church and loved gardening.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law; William Curtis ( Sheila) Arthur, Jr. of Crawford; daughter and son in law; Lacretia Ann (Gary) Guest of Arnoldsville; sister: Mazee Peeler of Lincolnton; grandchildren: William Corry Arthur and Cori Lynn Arthur and great grandchildren: William Craig Bonner and Brantley Owen Bonner.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2PM at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Brett Mask officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Christy, Steve Jackson, Bart Jackson, Carl Young, James Peeler and Malcolm Huff.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Lord & Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel, Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
