Susan Elizabeth (Edge) Smith

June 26, 1954 — January 8, 2016

Susan Elizabeth Smith, 61, of Lexington, went home to be with her heavenly father, precious Daddy and long missed Mammaw and Pa on Friday, January 8, 2016. Born in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Curtis Edge. Mrs. Smith enjoyed many years of teaching children and being manager at Circle M. She was a leader for many years at Camp Fire, lunchroom monitor, after school teacher, and substitute teacher for 12 years at Lula, East Hall Middle and East Hall High School. Most of all, she loved the Lord and her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her mother, Hazel; sister, Sharon West; brother, Kenneth Edge; husband, Nelson Smith; children, Gary and Cindy Smith, Jonathan Smith, Alan and Selena Morgan, and Joey and Stefanie Curry; grandchildren, Alyssa, Blake, Isaac, A.J., Alex, Sarah Beth, Serenity and Emma Grace.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, 2015 at Lord and Stephens, East at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Hudson, Rev. Dwayne Ryals and Rev. Robbie Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Sunday, January 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandy Cross Baptist Church, 791 Lexington Carlton Road, Carlton, GA or the American Diabetes Association, 233 Peachtree St NE Suite 2225. Atlanta, GA.
Lord and Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
