Susan Duncan, 64 years of age, passed away on April 28, 2023 at One Thirty AM in Athens, GA after a hard-fought battle with Cancer. She was born September 30, 1958 in Heidelberg, Germany. She was adopted by John and Joan VanHoy and lived her childhood in Atlanta, GA. A graduate of The University of North Georgia, she earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and was a star on the tennis team. She married Douglas Duncan and had two children, Pamela and Daniel. Her adult life was lived out in Rome, GA.
Susan was a devoted Mother and a friend to everyone. She was feisty and hard headed, but knew how to get her way with a smile. She enjoyed spending time with family, pets, gardening, and time outdoors on warm sunny days. She was a sports fan, especially loving the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. She was hard working, and relentless. She did not want to retire or take time off, even though she would benefit from doing so. She would do anything in her power to take care of the ones she loved, always putting others above herself. To know her was to love her.
A small celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined, attended by close family and friends. She is survived by her two children, Pamela and Daniel Duncan; and her granddaughter, Magnolia Duncan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the family or to The American Cancer Society.
