Sue Self

Sue Self, 64, went peacefully to be with the Lord June 7, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born February 20, 1953, daughter of Lois Shelton and the late Douglas Shelton and preceded in death by 4 siblings. She left behind a grumpy old man and a ton of memories. Sue was very well known for listening to Roy complain and folks calling or dropping by to keep her up to date with gossip. The grandkids always argued about who was her favorite. She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that she was very proud of. She will surely be missed. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband Roy Self, daughter and caregiver, Tonya Hamby; sons Roy "Junebug" Self, Jr, Danny "Squirt", (Tracy) Self, son in law, Roger Tiller, brother John Shelton, sister Kathy Samples, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sue was a wonderful woman, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Her generosity, humor, and unconditional love will not be forgotten. The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, WEST, Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and Sunday beginning at 2:00 PM. Services will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Hal Tapp officiating. Interment will be at Ross Chapel Cemetery.
