Reverend J. Stephen Hightower, age 35 of Bogart, Georgia passed away December 1, 2013. Reverend Hightower was founding pastor of ONEchurch, Athens, Georgia and had previously served in various pastoral positions in Georgia churches. Reverend Hightower is survived by his wife Wendi Jones Hightower of Bogart, his parents James and Elizabeth Hightower of Toccoa, Georgia, brother Jared Hightower of Royston, Georgia and sister Regina Hightower Napier of Moultrie, Georgia. He held Masters of Divinity and Doctorate of Strategic Leadership degrees from Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia and was a 1996 graduate of Toombs County High School, Lyons, Georgia. Services are scheduled for Friday December 6, 2013 at Church of the Nations Assembly of God, 8780 Macon Highway, Athens, Georgia 30606 with visitation at 12:00-2:00 PM followed by memorial at 2:00 PM. Graveside service and burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon, December 7, 2013 at Canons Creek-Prosperity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery, 14417 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, South Carolina, 29108. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to ONEchurch, 1560 Oglethorpe Avenue, Athens, Georgia 30606. Lord and Stephens, West, is in charge of arrangements.
