Watkinsville, GA - Dr. Stephen Joshua Brannen, 82, died January 24, 2008.
Born in Glennville, GA, he was the son of the late H. Lonnie and Ellen F. Guy Brannen. Dr. Brannen was a retired Agricultural Economist with the University of Georgia following 37 years of service. He served with the U.S. Army 86th Infantry from 1944-1946, having received the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was a longtime member of Green Acres Baptist Church, having held several offices including Deacon and was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Revs. Fred Rowell and Jerry Horton officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Edwards, Jere Thorne, Ivery Clifton, James Wilson, Brett Fowler and Bill Fox.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mature Adult Mens Sunday School Class of Green Acres Baptist Church and Wilbur Mull.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Edge Brannen; 2 daughters, Rita Brannen of Watkinsville and Caroline Bishop of Moses Lake, Washington; sister, Louise Rogasky of Green Cove, FL; granddaughter, Tanya Phillips and great granddaughter,Reagan Brannen Phillips.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UGA Foundation for Stephen Brannen Leadership Fund.
