SPC Matthew J. (Worley) Minshew, 20, of Savannah, GA, died May 26, 2010.
Matthew was born in Elberton, GA October 3, 1989 and was a resident there for 16 years. He joined the United States Army in 2007. He became active duty in 2009 and has been stationed at Ft. Stewart near Hinesville.
Matthew is survived by his mother, Jackie W. Burson and stepfather Bill Burson of Hull, GA; father, Matthew Minshew and stepmother Connie Durden of Bishop, GA. Other survivors include his grandmother "Mema" Kay Wright of Elberton, GA; uncles, Joe Minshew of Athens and Wayne Wright of Elberton, GA; aunt, Paulette Kaplan of Fairfax, VA; brother, Cpl. Brandon Doss of San Diego, CA; sister, Chasity Cunningham of Bishop, GA.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 5, 2010 at noon at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Mr. Neal Story officiating. Interment will be in Durden Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
