Sidney E. Avery

Sidney E. Avery, 92, died November 28, 2005. A native of Putnam County, he lived most of his life in Florida and in Athens. He served in the Civil Air Patrol and retired from the reserves after World War II. He was employed by Eastern Air Lines and by Florida Glass and Mirror in Miami. Before his retirement five years ago, he worked at Normal Hardware for 38 years. He was a member of Cleveland Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy C. Avery; one sister, Edith Burgess; nephews and spouses, Bill and Zue Nash, Bob and Jan Nash, Jack and Donnie Avery and Phillip and Dee Cearley; nieces and spouses, Patricia and Paul Millwood, Pam and Glenn Mayeaux; niece, Kathryn Gibb and nephews, Jim Cearley, John Cearley and William Avery. The memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, with visitation at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST.
Rev. Robert Conner and Dr. Robert N. Nash will officiate. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Cleveland Road Baptist Church, 1215 Cleveland Road, Bogart, GA 30622.
