Shirley Elder Marie Roberts

Watkinsville, GA - Shirley Elder Roberts, 78, died November 2, 2013.
Born in Winterville and a lifelong resident of this area, she was the daughter of the late George Alvin and Mattie Ivester Stewart. She was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Hatcher and Elizabeth Russell, grandson, Daniel Bales and former husband and father of her children, Cecil E. Elder. For a number of years, Mrs. Roberts worked for Westclox and later for Publix at Butlers Crossing. She was a member of Destiny Christian Center.
Survivors include her children, Mitch Elder (Lisia) of Hull and Donna Bales (Danny) of Athens; sister, Jeannette Windham (Gordon) of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Dustin Bales, Cody Bales, Jesse Elder and Joshua Crump; great grandchildren, Alisia Crump and Hunter Crump; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Don England.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with her son, Rev. Mitch Elder officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
