Sherry Janelle (Elder) Wages

Sherry Janelle Elder Wages, 80, of Athens, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017.
A lifelong resident of Athens, Sherry was a daughter of the late Guy Dawson Elder and Auzaline Darrington Elder. She was a graduate of Winterville High School and owned her own beauty shop for many years. Sherry spent a year in the mission field in West Virginia and helped build a church in Rowlesburg. She was a member of the Mission Service Corps and Central Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James LaDon Coile.
Survivors include her husband, James Paul "Buddy" Wages; three children, Miriam A. Wages (Danny), Gaye Coile Busbin and Gregory Dawson Wages (Holly); two siblings, Louis Rodney Elder (Vicki) and Brenda Elder Greene (Gary); four grandchildren, Chris Wages (Kelly), Brian Wages (Amanda), Shawn Busbin and Eric Busbin; five great-grandchildren, Madison Wages, Alexis Wages, Chaselyn Bryant, Devin Bryant and Grayson Wages and one great-great grandchild, Waylon Moore.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jamie Elder, Mark Gosnell, Chris Wages, Brian Wages, Shawn Busbin, Eric Busbin and Neil Hefner. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Sherry to the mission fund at the church of your choosing.
