Born in Sri Lanka, Dr. Ratnayaka became a member of the Athens community and the University of Georgia in 1974. He served as professor emeritus in the Department of Religion.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. A viewing and visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time. A reception will follow at the residence.
Survivors include his wife, Manel Ratnayaka; sons, Kanishka (Amy) Ratnayaka and Manjusri "Juice" Ratnayaka.
