Sedolia "Dolie" Carpenter Perrett, age 88, of Athens, passed away May 11, 2013. For the last 13 years she resided at Iris Place, enjoying her friends and playing bridge. She became part of the Young Harris UMC family in 2010.
Mrs. Perrett was born in Silver Lake, TX to Edward H. Carpenter and Jettie Reynolds Carpenter on July 27, 1924.
She graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, LA and attended Centenary College and LSU. She worked for Southern Bell of LA for 10 years where she was the personnel supervisor for the northern part of the state.
In 1950, she married William Edwin Perrett, Sr. They moved to Decatur in 1962. They attended Oak Grove UMC for almost 40 years.
In 1965, Mrs. Perrett began working at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart. She continued to do so until her illness began in 2000. She loved and enjoyed the fashion industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Perrett, Sr; her brothers, John Calvin Carpenter, Ralph Carpenter, and James Garrard; and her infant daughter, Nelle Dean Carpenter.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, William and Russellyn Perrett of Woodstock, GA; Michael and Anne Perrett of Ball Ground, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Dayle and Wendell Faulkner, of Watkinsville, GA; two grandsons, three granddaughters, two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all the friends for their love and support, especially in the last few difficult years; as well as her special caregivers, Sara, Denise, Melinda, and Janice, who were always so kind and compassionate.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Floral Hills Memorial Garden in Tucker with the Rev. Dick Hoard presiding.
