Dr. Scott Marshall Russell, 50, husband of Kristine Garrison Russell, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at his residence in Oconee County. A native of Alexandria, VA, he was the son of Ann Gensmer Russell of St. Simons Island and Donald G. Russell and step mother Marybeth Cline Russell of Brunswick. Scott was a full professor of Poultry Processing and Products Microbiology at the University of Georgia for 21 years. He received B.S.A. in Microbiology, his M.S. in Poultry Science and Ph. D. in Poultry Science, all from The University of Georgia. In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include his sons: Jordan Russell and Joshua Russell; father and mother in-law: Jack and Jane Garrison; uncles: George Marshall Gensmer, Stanley (Buck) Russell and wife Jean Russell; aunt: Janet Russell Jefferson and several beloved cousins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 4PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. Gift in memory of Scott Russell may be made to the Scott Russell Scholarship Endowment Fund.
