Billy Scott Langley Jr., 71, of Athens, died peacefully on March 11, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.
Scott was born on October 16, 1950 in Atlanta to the late Billy Scott Langley Sr. and Joyce Elaine Lewis Langley of Loganville. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his three children: Amber Waldroup (Scottie), Ben Langley (Alex), and Brandi Haley (Andy); eight grandchildren: Major, Alaina, and Marlee Waldroup, Roslyn and Benji Langley, and Sully, Charlie, and Libby Haley, all of whom were his pride and joy. Scott is also survived by his sister, Joyce Ann Southard (Mike), niece, Stephanie Alberson (Chad), great-niece, Zoey Alberson, other family members, members of Canvas Church, and members of The Potter’s House.
Scott was a recovered alcoholic who found God’s grace and redemption in his sobriety. His family and friends were blessed with over 6 sober years with him, reminding everyone that it is never too late to change your life and allow Jesus into your heart. Scott had amazing friends throughout his life, most notably his best friend of 50 years, Billy Anthony, his girlfriend Judy Craig, who was by his side when he passed, and John Versherum, who led his small group at church and faithfully visited him during his time in the hospital and in hospice.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Canvas Church in Scott’s honor.
