Saxton R. Gaskin Jr

Saxton R. Gaskin, Jr., 87, of Athens, died September 20, 2016.
Born in Savannah, he was the son of the late Saxton R., Sr. and Sara NeSmith. He was a member of Kiwanis, a pilot with AOPA and served with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Gaskin; children, Abby Knox, Jessica Gonzales, Cathy Maynard, Virginia Lynette Ratliff and David Drummonds (Nancy); grandchildren, Samuel Knox, Jessica Knox, Billy Knox, Erin Gaskin, Tiffany Maynard, Jason Gonzales, Ralph Gonzales, Amy Marie Drummonds and David Alan Drummonds, II; great grandchildren, Billy Barnes, Sarah Barnes, Jessica Barnes, Brent Alexander Knox, Logan Jaudon Knox, Holden Knox and Sarah Elizabeth Knox.
Services will be Friday, September 23, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, East with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
