Sarah John Shelton, cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the age of 87.
A lifelong resident of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Howard Gunnin and Annie Haggard Gunnin. Sarah was a wonderful seamstress and had a great sense of humor. She also loved her snuff, so much so that she earned the nickname “Snuffy” at the nursing home in Comer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Frankie Crane and her daughter-in-law, Angie O. Garrett.
Survivors include her children, Jason Garrett and Jean Crane; grandchildren, Todd Garrett, Ryan Garrett (Randi), Niki Garrett, Hannah Garrett, Alicia McMinn (Keith), Amber Phillips (Tyler) and LauraBeth Maxey (Barry); great-grandchildren, Levi Garrett, Rusty Garrett, Jacey McMinn, Paisley McMinn, Addie Rae Phillips, Hayden Munro, Gavyn Munro and Josiah Phillips; sister-in-law, Rebecca Gunnin “Becky”; nephews, David and Steve Gunnin and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 7, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Interment will follow at Comer Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
