Sarah Vause Knuth, 75, of Athens, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Monday, April 08, 2024.
Sarah was born in Wildwood, FL, on June 27, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Carl Everett Vause, Sr. and the late Lucy McNeal Vause.
Sarah loved her family and devoted her life to them and helping others through teaching and volunteering for charities. She was always a willing helper & enjoyed her life.
Sarah retired from education in 2012 after serving in the public education field for over 25 years She taught Special Education at Wildwood High School. She was then Lead School Counselor at Wildwood High School. After moving to Athens, GA she was Lead School Counselor at Burney Harris Lyons Middle School, Athens, GA and Lead School Counselor at Jefferson City High School, Jefferson, GA.
She volunteered with the American Cancer Society for many years, as Committee Chair for several Relay for Life committees and was a Member of Relay for Life Planning Committee. As a volunteer with the American Red Cross in both GA & CA chapters, she participated in numerous trainings and deployments as well as a member of the Disaster Mental Health team in GA before becoming the Lead where she received several awards. She was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church but had been attending First Baptist Athens.
Sarah graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Welfare. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority at FSU. She was an avid, devoted fan of anything Seminole. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Master of Arts Degree from the College of Education. Sarah also graduated from the University of Georgia with a Six Year degree of Specialist in Education.
Survivors include her two daughters: Jennifer Tidball (Joshua) of San Diego, CA; Christy Williams (fiancée, Jack Baisch) of Dallas, GA; two stepsons, James Knuth and Jason Knuth; brother, Carl Everett Vause, Jr. (Kathy Levin); sister, Crystie Vause Dekle; and brother, Thomas Stewart (Charlene); grandson, Jeremy Williams (Kaitlyn); granddaughters, Shayna Williams, Shayla Williams, Rowan Booth, Rayna Booth and Ryan Tidball; great-grandsons Fuller Williams and Rowdy Williams, and great-granddaughter, Willow Williams; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased February 24, 2022, by her brother-in-law, Mike Dekle.
Celebration of Life Services will be held April 26th at 2:30 PM at First Baptist Church, Athens, GA with Rev. Matt Marston officiating and April 28th at 2:30 PM at First Baptist Church, Wildwood, FL with Rev. Craig Attaway officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation, American Diabetes Association, American Red Cross, or a charity of choice.
