Winterville - Sarah Edith Higdon, 91, died February 22, 2006.
A native of Madisonville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Nora Alice Dame Higdon and was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Wilbur Higdon, sister, Ruth H. Wood and niece, Virginia Sue McMaine. She spent the majority of her life in missionary work in a non-denominational Christian faith.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, 2006, at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Robert Flippo, Charles Steffen and Charles Vaughn will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include a sister, Lillian May McMaine of Lexington, KY; eight nephews and nieces, Ken Higdon of Birmingham, AL, Doug Higdon of Houston, TX, Linda Woods of Winterville, Dale Wood of Winterville, Donald Wood of Winterville, Ron McMaine of Salvisa, KY, Julie Evans of St. Cloud, MN, Mary Ann Nippert of Phoenix, AZ; nineteen great nephews and nieces; five great-great nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Rich Morris, Ben McMaine, Jeremy Baseman, Bill Smith, Vaughn Ellingson, John Holladay.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
