Sara Holcomb Maxey

February 14, 1924 — March 5, 2013

Sara Glenn Holcomb Maxey, 89, died March 5, 2013.
A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Glenn Alexander and Lena Barnett Holcomb and was the widow of Joseph Dawson Maxey. Mrs. Maxey graduated from Watkinsville High School and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a longtime and dedicated member of Bishop Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Helen Maxey of Seattle, WA and Michael Glenn "Mike" and Debra Posey Maxey of Bogart; two grandsons, Joseph Glenn Maxey and James Michael Maxey; brother and sister-in-law, Charles H. and Jean Holcomb of Bishop.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Maxey, Todd Holcomb, Kent Holcomb, Allan Hardigree, Nolan Malcolm and Keith Barnett.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bishop Baptist Church.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
