Sara Elizabeth Jennings Downs of Watkinsville, Georgia passed away at Magnolia Estates, Winder, Georgia on October 5, 2022.
She was born on February 24, 1927 in Watkinsville, Georgia and lifetime resident of Oconee County. She was a graduate of Oconee High School in 1945. She was a lifelong member of Antioch Christian Church. She retired from Reliance Electric, Athens, Georgia. Faith and family were the most important aspects of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Gene Downs and her only child, Margaret ‘Jean’ Branton, and son-in-law, Wayman Houston Branton. She was also preceded in death by her parents E.W. Jennings and Magdalene Jennings Stovall, two sisters and one brother, and best friend/sister-in-law, Sara M. Downs.
She is survived by her only grandson, Milton ‘Lee’ Branton and LaShea, Hoschton; and two great-grandchildren, Brice Wesley and Sara Elizabeth Branton. She also is survived by two step-grandsons, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, October 7 from 12-1pm at Antioch Christian Church, Watkinsville with service at 1 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Johnson United Methodist Church, Watkinsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Christian Church or Johnson United Methodist Church in Watkinsville.
