Sanford "Sandy" Hoyt Butler, 79, husband of Faye McCoy Butler, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his residence.
A native and longtime resident of the Athens Area, he was the son of the late Sanford Hoyt Butler, Sr. and Rubye Jones Butler and brother to the late Gloria Butler Cobb. He was a Life Long Real Estate Developer, graduate of the University of Georgia, Member of Athens First Baptist Church where he was a member of the B & B Sunday School Class. He was one of Kelley's Boys at the Athens YMCA.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children: Scott (Elizabeth) Butler, David (Donna) Butler, Cindy Butler (Dan) Jackson, Kelley (Christy Anderson) Butler, Tammy Gilreath, Tracey (Bobby) West and four grandchildren: William David Butler, Robert O'Kelley Butler, Kage Gilreath and Ashley West.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 at 2PM at Athens First Baptist Church, Reverend Paul Baxley officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
