Samuel "Sam" Lee Dutton, Sr.

October 8, 1952 — October 21, 2021

Samuel Lee Dutton, Sr., 69, of Arnoldsville, died Thursday, October 21, 2021.

Born in Rome, GA, he was the son of the late Hansel D. Dutton and Sybil Mathis Dutton. Sam retired from the EPA as a Chemist and currently was a bus driver for the Oglethorpe County School System.  He was a member of Cornerstone Church and in the past led the Royal Rangers. Carving  cars for the Ranger Derby was a favorite activity.  He was an active member of the Oglethorpe County Band Boosters for the last 14 years and in his spare time he worked in his garden.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sharon E. Dutton; daughter: Caitlan Elizabeth Dutton; son: Samuel Lee (Morgan) Dutton, Jr.; siblings; Cindy Dutton Edwards, Patricia Bailey, Pamela (Dale) McEntyre, Troy (Cynthia) Dutton and grandson: Samuel Elijah Dutton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11AM at Cornerstone Church of Athens. Interment will follow at Winterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or Oglethorpe County Band Booster Club.
