Samuel Edward Shelton, 65, of Danielsville, Georgia, went home to be with Jesus on the morning of
Friday, April 19 th , 2024, with his wife by his side.
Sam was born on May 18th to the late Etta Blackburn and Cecil Edward Shelton in Litchfield, Kentucky.
He graduated from Campbell County High school in 1977. To provide for him and his family, Sam was
willing to relocate to Florida, Michigan, then finally settled in Georgia in the early 1990’s. He always
looked for better opportunities to improve their quality of life.
Sam was a jack of all trades, and master of many. He is known for his incredible work ethic and attention
to detail. His musical talents were unparalleled. Within minutes he could accompany any tune you
desired on both the piano and guitar. His beautiful voice is most certainly being joined with heavenly
choirs, today.
Thankfully, even before the iPhone, Sam often had a camera in his hands. He created many memories
that we will forever cling to. There was never a dull moment with Sam around. He would quickly make
friends with anyone he met. His cheerful demeanor and boisterous voice would make anyone blessed to
be in his presence.
Sam’s love for old westerns and John Wayne was no match for the love he had for his family. He was a
devoted husband, father and grand-father. Sam found some of greatest joy in the tender moments with
his grandbabies. Their laughter was the melody that filled his heart. He is most certainly gone too soon
and will be forever missed.
In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his sister, Twila Campbell. Sam is survived by his wife: Sherry Shelton, sisters: Sally (Gary) Mitchell, & Cindy Young; daughters: Jessica Searcy (John) & Alicia Spence (Jeremy), children by marriage: Clint Hill (Amber), Molly Hodges (Clayton), Emily Hill (Jose) and 8 grandchildren: Sophia Searcy, Carson Searcy, Ellyana Spence, Parker Spence, Jamison Spence, Aria Hill, Addelyn Hill, and baby Hill. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 1 pm – 3 pm with the service beginning at 3 pm at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, 963 GA-98, Danielsville, GA 30633. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Gideon’s International Bibles in Sam’s name at
