Sammy Wayne Goad, 72, of High Shoals, GA passed away peacefully on May 5, 2018. He was born August 13, 1945 and a native of Mt. Airy NC. He was the son of the late Sammy George Goad and the late Mabel Evelyn Adams Goad. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda C. Goad, two sons, Brian W. Goad (Elizabeth) of Cleveland, GA and Stephen D. Goad (Ellen) of Watkinsville, GA. In addition, he is survived by his brother R. Dillard Goad (Barbara) of Mt. Airy, NC and sister Kathy Haynes (Max) of Roaring Gap, NC. Sammy leaves behind five grandchildren, Briana Goad-Marx (Daniel), Stephenie, Mason, Jackson, Olivia, two step-grandchildren, Max and Clay, as well as one great-grandson, Emmett. He also leaves behind many close and beloved friends.
A resident of Georgia since 1984, he dedicated his career to the field of high voltage distribution. He was an avid outdoorsman and when he wasn't fishing or hunting, you'd likely find him tending to his beautiful home or trading boats and trailers. Anyone who ever met Sammy knew how much he loved his family, friends, and cherished pets throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his ferocious Yorkie, Rudy. Those who knew him well, knew that he liked that dog more than most people. He was a straight shooter who said what was on his mind and told stories that will live forever in the memories of those who love him. May our Yosemite Sammy forever be rootin' tootin' and just as rambunctious as his last 72 years of adventure.
A celebration of life ceremony to be announced at a later date.
