Sam McCannon Jr.

Sam McCannon Jr., 84, of Winterville, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018.

Born in Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Sam McCannon Sr. and Sally Holliday McCannon. Mr. McCannon was a Veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Mae Callaway McCannon; his son, Terry McCannon; brothers, Clifford McCannon, Walter Allen McCannon Sr. and Grady McCannon.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Lovett and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. Interment will follow in the Grove Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive C., Athens, GA 30605.
