Athens, Ga - Ms. Ruth Burroughs, 78, died Monday, August 24, 2009.
A native of Madison County, Ms. Burroughs was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Clara Fannie Spratlin Burroughs.
She was retired from the textile industry as an inspector and a member of Hull Baptist Church. Ms. Burroughs was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Burroughs, Harry Burroughs and Spurgeon Burroughs and three sisters, Rebecca Burroughs, Sara Burroughs and Sue Sughrue.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009, at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.
Nephews, Arnal Strickland, Denver Strickland, Mike Burroughs, Phil Burroughs, Pete Burroughs, Ed Sughrue and Jim Sughrue will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Frierson family.
Ms. Burroughs is survived by one sister, Irene Strickland, Colbert; nephews named above, and nieces, Diane Adams, Sandra Pou, Phyllis Gordon and Deborah Crow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coile Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 640, Hull, GA 30646.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, Thursday, August 27, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
