Rupert Carlton "Buster" Eades, 74, went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2014.A native and longtime resident of Oconee County, he was a son of the late John Thaddeus and Annie Lou Huff Eades. He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother in law, Lourene and Bill Norton; and brother and sister in law, Eugene and Joyce Eades; sister in law, Judy Nelms Allen.Mr. Eades graduated from Oconee County High School in 1957 and played on their first baseball team. His design of the Warrior Head was selected that same year as their choice for the mascot of OCHS. Mr. Eades retired from AT&T after thirty-three years in the telecommunications industry. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves from 1961-1967. He was a member of Johnson United Methodist Church since 1954. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling, watching Oconee County Softball games and many other grandchildren's activities. Funeral services will be Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Revs. Tracy Sever and Dan Maxey officiating. Interment will be in Johnson UMC Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of forty three years, Tina Nelms Eades; son and daughter in law, David and Michelle Eades of Bogart; two grandchildren, Parker and Shellby; two brothers and three sisters in law, G. W. and Caroline Eades of High Shoals and Jack and Nancy Eades of Bogart, and Denise Hayes of Elberton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Danny Davis, Jim Eades, John Eades, Tommy Eades, Lanny Gray, Gerald Jordan, Franklin Marshall and John White. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the OCHS Class of 1957. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
