Royal Wayne Mixon, 87, bid good-bye to this world on January 19, 2025. He was born in Appling County, Ga on March 11, 1937 to Robert and Janette Dubberly Mixon, and was the first of four children.
His was a life well-lived. He was passionate about helping people, always being concerned for the welfare of the people around him. He leaves behind many people whom he has befriended and helped over the years.
As owner of Royal Homes, he was a builder and was recognized as a quality contractor. In the 1970’s he was instrumental in helping 67 families, living in a depressed area, to get into affordable and quality homes.
He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and served his Lord and the congregation in many capacities over the years. He was a Mason for 62 years and lived up to the goals and ideals as put forth by the Order.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beatrice Arnold Mixon: and three children: Keith (Ellen), Sanford and Michelle Mixon; grandchildren: August, Mixon and Holly Mixon: brother: Dwight (JoAnn) Mixon, sister: LaFern (Berry) Denney, and several nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 4pm until 7pm at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Mars Hill Baptist Church at 11:00am on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Interment will be private at Evergreen Memorial Park.
