Watkinsville - Roy A. Nichols, Sr., 92, husband to Carolyn Parsons Nichols for 62 years, died Friday, September 5, 2008.
Born in Moultrie, GA, he was the son of the late Charlie Crawford and Mary Ellen Patrick Nichols. Mr. Nichols served his country during WWII in the US Army 753rd Tank Battalion. He retired from General Motors. He was a member of Union Christian Church, Woodmen of the World Athens Lodge 8 and the Watkinsville VFW Post 9147. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Alvin Nichols, Lenos Nichols and sister, Lucille Brown.
Survivors include his wife, children: Carol Hanson of Snellville, Roy A. (Lynn) Nichols, Jr. of Watkinsville, Hazel Magner of Watkinsville; sister: Louise (Ted) Luz; brother: Wallace Nichols; sister in law: Agnes Nichols; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 8, 2008. at 2 PM at Union Christian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Union Christian Church Cemetery Fund.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
