Bogart - Rosa Lee West Crowe died on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
Born in Cleveland, Ga., the daughter of the late Wilbur L. and Bertha Palmer West, she lived most of her life in Oconee County, graduating from Watkinsville High School in 1936. A longtime resident of Bogart, Mrs. Crowe was the retired owner of Crowe's Store and D & L Shopping Center. She belonged to the Bogart Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and served on several committees. She particularly enjoyed her role as a Saturday Greeter at the Oconee State Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband of over sixty years, Hugh Dorsey Crowe Sr.; a grandson, Sam Crowe; three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include daughter, Carol Crowe Carraco and her husband, Robert; son, Hugh Dorsey Crowe Jr. and his wife, Sandra; son, William Sanford Crowe, II and his wife, Mary; brothers, Edward West and his wife, Lou, and Robert West; sister, Janette Palmer and her husband, Ross; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Herman West, Mrs. Hoyt West and Mrs. Roy West; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Lord & Stephens West Chapel with Rev. Mark Fite, Rev. Bill Hayes and Rev. Ted Tedder officiating. Burial will follow in Bogart Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bogart Baptist Church, St. Mary's Hospice or the charity of one's choice.
