Ronald Paul (Ronnie) Condron, 89, of Watkinsville, Ga, passed away after a brief illness on February 22, 2023. Born in Athens, Ga on September 5, 1933, Ronnie lived most of his life in the Athens area. After graduating from Athens High School in 1951, he was stationed in San Antonio, TX and served our nation in the U.S. Air Force. It was in San Antonio that he married Louise Adkison, a Florida girl, who was the love of his life and they were married for 67 years. During his duty, Ronnie spent one year in Korea serving in the Korean War.
Together with Louise, they moved back to Athens and built a strong family unit. He received many blessings through his ever-present involvement with the next three generations. Outside of his family, Ronnie was passionate about building businesses and was known as an entrepreneur. He was instrumental in the conception and implementation of several local businesses such as Burman Printing Co, Athens Microcomputer Center, CASA Security, Good Buddy Electronics and Martel’s Restaurant. Ronnie felt a duty to “pass it on” and mentored young businessmen and women as they began their own enterprises. His legacy is evident throughout the existing strong Athens business community.
Ronnie was motivated to live a full life. His practical and responsible nature was demonstrated as he grew vegetables, repaired cars and took pride in fixing things that others couldn’t fix. Ronnie was fiercely independent, believed in physical fitness and drove himself to the Athens YMCA a few days before his passing. Ronnie’s sense of humor, kindness and ability to connect immediately with a stranger will be missed. His anonymous way of helping others is an inspiration to those he touched.
His family that predeceased him include his parents, Elvera D. and Edward F. Condron, brother Edward, daughter, Valerie Brannon and great granddaughter, Dottie Broadrick. Ronnie is survived by his wife of Watkinsville, GA and daughters: Rhonda (Sylvia Cevallos) Berry of San Antonio, TX, Melanie (Frank) Broadrick and Natalie Beavers of Watkinsville. He was known as Poppy to his six grandchildren: Kevin (Susan) Broadrick of Silverthorne, CO, Jeffrey (Abby) Broadrick of Athens, Dean Newman of Wake, VA, Paul Brannon of Athens, Ross Brannon of Watkinsville and Kyle Beavers of Atlanta, GA.
He delighted in being a great grandfather to: Adelynne Wallace and Mabel, Lambert, Winnie, Bryce and Barrett Broadrick.
