Ronald B. Parsons, 63, of Sparta, Georgia, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 after a long illness.

He was born November 8, 1951, in Sycamore, Illinois, the son of the late Russell and Bernice Parsons. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1969.

Ron married Judy Flood on June 9, 1973, in Dekalb, Illinois. He began his career in 1971 with Holub Industries in Sycamore, Illinois. He retired from Acuity Brands Lighting in Conyers, Georgia in 2011.

Ron is survived by his wife, Judy, two sons, Michael (Mary Ann) Parsons of Bogart, Georgia and Andrew Parsons of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Kenneth (Kay) Parsons of Olney, Illinois and one sister, Lou Anne (Charles) Hendron of Vista, California; two grandchildren, Haley and Caleb Parsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted family man who volunteered as a coach for many years with the Bainbridge Leisure Services Youth Baseball Program and American Legion Post 62 baseball team. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Sinclair and Florida State football.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel in Watkinsville, Georgia. The funeral service honoring his life will be officiated by Reverend Eric Buffington on Monday, December 8, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The internment will be held at Oconee Memorial Park in Watkinsville, Georgia.
