Born November 23, 1941 Ron Neislar departed this life November 24, 2024. Ron succumbed to heart disease. He was born to Ranie William and Jeanet Collette Neislar in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Ron spoke fondly of his childhood and childhood friends in Fort Smith.

Following an undergraduate degree from University of Arkansas and a Master of City Planning degree from Georgia Tech Ron became Planning Director for Athens-Clarke County in 1972. Subsequently he was hired by Jordan, Jones and Goulding (J, J, & G) where he became part of the executive team. During his time at J, J, & G Ron established many close friendships that he maintained until his death. Ron also made many dear friends from his various associations. He was a past president of Athens Chamber of Commerce, a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Athens, and Athens Country Club.

Ron loved automobiles and particularly loved vintage Porsches. Many of his closest friendships revolved around cars both in childhood and late adulthood. Ron had many loves. He was deeply devoted to his family and they brought him great joy, especially later in life.

Ron was predeceased by his sister, Jane Blackman. He is survived by his wife, Wanda of 42 years; daughter, Ranie (Worth) of Birmingham; son, Lindsey (Alexia) of Bluffton; two granddaughters, Blakely and Adalyn of Bluffton; several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, December 7 at First Presbyterian Church, 185 East Hancock Avenue, Athens, GA 30601. Those wishing to remember Ron may make gifts to the charity of their choice in his honor.
