Ronald David Hill, loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly at home February 26, 2014.

Ron was born December 2, 1943 in Tyler, Texas to Virgil Hill and Valerie Hill McCugh. He is preceded in death by his father, Virgil, brother, Sam and father Simon McCugh.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Mary, two sons, Justin and Jordan of Bishop, Georgia, mother, Valerie McCugh, sisters, Becky McCugh and Gloria "Sis" Moore, nephews, Kevin, Larry and Keith, niece Rae Seibold, and several great nieces and nephews all of Texas.

Ron received his undergraduate degree from Washington State University where he played football as a defensive back and was a member of Acacia Fraternity. He received his Masters Degree from Iowa Sate University. After graduation, Ron worked for Shell Oil Company before starting his long career as a Career Advisor and Development Officer at Florida Sate University (where he met his wife Mary), Georgia Southwestern State University, UGA's School of Law, and Brenau University before retiring.

He spent retirement raising his sons, playing bridge, having breakfast with his best friend, Giles Kennedy, and taking care of the neighborhood fish pond. Ron served as the Director of the FSU Presidents Club and, during retirement, Treasurer of the Oconee County Dug-Out Club.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday, February 28, 2014 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Ron may be made to the American Heart Association or the Oconee County Dug-Out Club.
