Robyn Evangeline Wright McDonald, departed this life and entered the next, God’s exclusive realm, on August 13, 2024. She departed peacefully from her home, surrounded by members of her family, after a year confronting pancreatic cancer.
She was born December 30, 1947 in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Frank Cornelius Wright, Jr. and Evangeline Pettit Wright. Robyn is survived by her husband, James Erwin McDonald, Jr, her son Henry Cornelius "Neil" McDonald and her daughter Sally McDonald Celia (Herve), grandchildren Evangeline Marie Celia and James Vincent Celia. She is also survived by her sister, Laura Deane. And she is survived by nieces and nephews.
Robyn had a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Masters of Social Work Degree from the University of Georgia. She had a private practice of Psychological Therapy for over forty years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Athens and served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher, and assisted with many group counseling activities at the church.
The family would like to thank University Cancer and Blood Center and the doctors and nurses there for their professional and caring treatment, and “Bird Hamburger” sends a special thank you to the nurses in Infusion and Radiation.
And, we are grateful to Family Hospice for making her last days comfortable and pain free.
A memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Athens, on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 2:00pm, with a reception following at the church.
