Robin Jones Scott, 56 passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 29, 2021. Born December 12, 1964 in Athens, Georgia to James Paul Jones and the late Patsy Ann (Almand) Jones of Watkinsville.
Robin graduated from Oconee County High School, Class of 1982. She worked briefly at General Times in Athens before marrying the love of her life, the late James Edward Scott. Robin and Ed celebrated 26 years of marriage, made their home in Watkinsville, and raised their three children.
Robin enjoyed her hometown. She kept up to date with the comings and goings and knew of happenings there. When anyone wanted to know something that was news worthy if she did not have the answer she would find it for you.
Robin was deeply invested in her family and their activities. She substitute taught at Oconee County Elementary School where her children attended. As they grew older, Robin became involved in the Oconee County Little League. She served as a Member of the Board of Oconee County Little League for many years, 3 Years as President of the Oconee County Little League Association, 13 years as District Administrator for Georgia District 10 Little League Association and 3 Years as Assistant District Administrator for Georgia District 10 Little League Association before retiring.
Robin loved all sports but especially Oconee County High School Football and University of Georgia Football. She was a wealth of knowledge of both teams but also all things football and baseball related. Robin kept friends and family updated on sports scores for all Georgia teams. You could always catch her watching some type of sporting event and following players from Oconee County into their college and professional careers.
Through her Little League work and being a lifelong resident of Watkinsville, Robin had a large group of friends. They were as close as family and dropped by just to chat. She enjoyed these visits, phone calls, and chats and always looked forward to them.
Since childhood, Robin was a member of Antioch Christian Church. She was married there and instilled Christian values into her children based on what Antioch instilled in her. Active in Sunday school, the annual Church BBQ’s, ice cream socials and when she was young, of course, the softball teams. She learned at the feet of one of Antioch’s greatest, Mr. Walter Elder, on how to keep a scorebook, which served her well as her son, developed a passion for baseball. She was often seen keeping score at the games for not only the team she was rooting for but also the opposing team.
Preceded in death by her mother Patsy Ann (Almand) Jones and her husband James Edward Scott she is survived by her father, Paul (Vi) Jones of Watkinsville, daughters Mary Beth Scott and Patricia Scott of Watkinsville and her son Christopher Scott, daughter-in-law, Tyler and Grand Daughter, Clarke of Williamston South Carolina. Her Sister Beth (Andy) Galoski of Snellville, Brother Chris (Susan) Jones of Jekyll Island and many nieces and nephews, also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5th from 5:00-8:00PM at Lord and Stephens West - 1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd, Watkinsville. The family will have a private burial service at a later date.
