Roberta Whitehead "Berbie" Burroughs

June 25, 1918 — September 14, 2011

Roberta Burroughs, 93 of 5821 Colbert- Danielsville Rd., died Wednesday, September 14, 2011. A lifelong resident of Madison County, Mrs. Burroughs was the daughter of the late Earnest and Susie Vaughn Whitehead. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Lou Whitehead, two brothers, Ralph and Reece Whitehead of Comer, a sister-in-law, Willie Mae Threkeld of Paoli, and a brother-in-law, Ralph Burroughs of Atlanta.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Paul Burroughs and a sister, Reba Moon of Colbert. Other survivors include a niece, Tammy Moon Strickland (Keith) of Colbert, a niece Carol Lowe of Stone Mountain, nephews: Dennis Moon (Brenda) of Colbert, Mitch Moon of Danielsville, Ken Whitehead (Linda) of Comer, Donald Whitehead (Rita) of Comer, Lanier Whitehead (Barbara) of Bogart, Billy Threkeld of Milledgeville, Joe Threkeld of Tennessee, and David Burroughs of Stone Mountain, as well as many great nieces and great nephews.
She was a homemaker and member of Colbert Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, and second mother to her sister's children. Special thank you to her loving caregivers Ida Campbell, Myranda Hood, and Yvonne Roberson.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Friday, September 16, 2011 at 3:00pm at Colbert Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Wilson, officiating. Interment will be in Colbert Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Moon, Russ Moon, Ben Strickland, Donald Whitehead, Ken Whitehead, and Lanier Whitehead.
Lord and Stephens, Danielsville is in charge of arrangements.
