Robert W. Wright, 96, died Monday, July 12, 2021 following a period of illness. He was a seed corn sales manager in Illinois for many years before retiring to Tampa, Florida in 1982. In 1986 he relocated to Athens to be closer to family. Bob was a skilled carpenter, an avid reader, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed singing in the choir at Tuckston United Methodist Church for several years, and sang in Barbershop choirs in Tampa and in Athens. One of Bob’s favorite activities was coffee and conversation with friends.
He was preceded in death by parents Walter Ivan Wright and Rhoda Kildow Wright, sister Barbara Magnuson, and son Alan S. Wright. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 74 years, Evelyn C. Wright, daughter Maggie Napoli and husband Joseph Napoli, grandchildren Janeanne Napoli and Mari Catherine Poister and husband Robert Poister, and great-grandchildren Rowan and Ada Grey Poister.
Bob was a kind, gentle man who was very devoted to family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Donations in his memory may be made to Tuckston United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 25, at Tuckston United Methodist Church at 2:30 PM.
