Matt Tyner, 43, of Watkinsville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016. Matt was born in Athens, Georgia on July 10, 1973. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1992, and then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was self-employed as a contractor. Matt had a strong faith in the Lord and was a former member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and was attending Athens Church.
Matt is survived by his wife, Sarah, of 19 years, and a daughter, Rylee Grace, 12. He was a dedicated family man. He is also survived by his parents, Garnett (Ty) and Mary Beth of Hull, a sister, Jennifer Aspinwall (Bert) and two nieces, Reagan and Reese Aspinwall of Watkinsville, his maternal grandparents, Paul and Gwen Holmes of Athens and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 Saturday, December 3, 2106 at Lord and Stephens West. Lord and Stephens are in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Joe Alewine, Jason Gibson, Alex Holmes, Bobby Holmes, Spencer Holmes, Matt Richardson, Chad Sailors and Lance Tyner.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established for Matt's daughter, Rylee Tyner at Suntrust Bank, 3445 Atlanta Highway, Athens, GA 30606 or 706-363-9720.
