Robert Eugene Sanders

Robert Eugene Sanders, 86, husband of Marion Eloise Perry Sanders, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Born in Oglethorpe County he was the son of the late Thomas "Tommy" Sanders and Nancy Elizabeth Andrews Sanders. Robert retired from Dairy Pak/Champion as a truck driver after 42 years and served as an Oglethorpe County Sheriff Deputy for 47 years. He was a member of New Life Apostolic Church. Survivors include his wife; daughters: Debra R. Lyle, Robbie D. Thomas, Regina L. Gabriel, Patti A. Childers, Pam E. Elrod and Sherri S. Hess; sisters: Dorothy Wheless and Patsy Winn; brother: Retired Sheriff Ray Sanders: ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and his constant companion and friend, Scooter Eugene Sanders. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Tim Hammond and Rev. Jerry Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 prior to the service.
