Athens - Robert Louis Murzynski, age 74, died Friday, October 17, 2008.
Born in Carbondale, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Blanche Balsavage Murzynski. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother John Murzynski. He was a 1952 graduate of Ben Franklin High School. He retired from the US Navy after serving his country for 23 years. As a member of Cornerstone Church of God, Bob was very active serving his church in many positions: Home Group Leader, First Time Greater, Choir Member, Care Minister, Redemption Lift, Intercessory Prayer Team and as an Elijah.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Murzynski; children, Robert Murzynski, Joseph Murzynski, David Murzynski, Chris Murzynski, Veronica Johnson, Barbara Pounds, Theresa Vanmolsan, Michael Murzynski, Robin Mann, Terri Hill, Tracey Madden, Laura Hammond, Julie Tolbert, Robert Hatcher, Lynn Murzynski; sister, Mary Reynolds; thirty-five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God with Pastors Scott Shepard and Steve Stringham officiating. Entombment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Don Delay, John Team, Mike Crawford, Stan Parker, C. B. Wagoner, Keith Loudermilk; honorary pallbearers will be Larry Potter and Joe Walker.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cornerstone Church of God Building Fund, 2150 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605.
